Another point I'd like to make;

NO - citizens don't need to know what Gov 2.o is.

What they do need to know is:
How to hold their Congress people accountable
How to rally their town and neighbors to get their property taxes lowered
That the internet can help them achieve these things.

What every terms we use to describe the above efforts should be suited to their needs and understanding.

No one I know goes to barcamps. Yet in some sense I work in the gov 2.0 sphere and certainly in the "internet" space. If Citizen Grundfest's criticism was aimed at the Barcamp audience then it was incorrectly placed. However, There will come a time when this jargon does filter down into mainstream media consumed by average American's. I can just see the headlines now in a Times Magazine article: Are you ready to be a citizen of Gov 2.0? At that point - mainstream Americans will be confused. So perhaps Grundfest's criticism was not directly intended for the audience - but for the audience's audience. Perhaps setting some friendly jargon now will make it easier on the average citizen later.

First, thanks to your astute post. I like your blog and find it incredibly enlightening. I admire your ability of pointing out (by blogging) little things that other blogger will not take any time to say. I discovered it while doing a research on Bing as a consequence I surely will return here when I
