I think of social media like a set of kitchen knives. Yes they do help but you still have to have skill. Just having a good set of kitchen knives isn't going to make you a top chef.

I don't think social media made Barack Obama win the election. Did it help yes. But there were 1000 other reasons which actually caused him to win.

It may be one that I'm involved with but at Politics4All.com we see the value of technology in politics. There is a growing disconnect between citizens, candidates, and groups. We're bringing these fractured entities together on one political mobilization platform. We call it the lifestream of politics. A place where the politically-minded user can learn about local, state, national, and world politics and issues that affect their lives.

very true Mark - I like Adriel, and will be talking to him very soon (hopefully over Ritual Roasters or Blue Bottle) - but the fact that Twitter, Facebook, blogging and podcasting are just tools is lost on so many people who are enamored with the technology

in the end, they are just new versions of pencils and megaphones, they can be used for good or bad or for moving people or boring them - its not the tools we choose, its who we are and how we use them that matters
